Ready Or Not ~ Valmis Tai Ei

So no projects have been done much lately in the knitting section, but we have finally gotten our RV ready for the road. There are still things to do, but at least for now it is in livable condition. Not gonna jab about it, plenty of words about it in a previous post ;) The pictures will tell. There is one thing we need to do before we leave, we just need to build a platform at the area behind the curtains where the back seats used to be, we need a bit more usable space. I think then we are ready to hit the road. We still haven't decided where. :)
Can't wait to travel and knit! Any day now.

Eli neuleprojekteja ei ole viimeaikoina valmistunut, mutta olemme viimeinkin saaneet asuntoautomme lähtövalmiiksi. Valmishan remontti sinänsä ei ole, mutta ainakin on siinä vaiheessa että voisimme lähteä tien päälle. En aio siitä sen enempiä selitellä, edellinen postaus varmaan kertoi tarpeeksi monisanaisesti ;) Kuvat kertovat enemmän. Enää yksi asia ennen matkalle lähtöä on listalla, meidän pitää rakentaa lattia takapenkkien paikalle, jotta saamme hieman enemmän käyttökelpoista tilaa. Sitten olemmekin valmiita pakkaamaan hammasharjamme ja lähtemään, mutta minne, sitä emme ole vielä päättäneet.
Malttamattomana odotan matkustelua ja neulomista! Hetkenä minä tahansa.

snap buttons. Still no curtains. Nor has anyone washed the dead
bugs from the window.

The Apocalypse ~ Maailmanloppu

The RV reno keeps going on, for a while it started looking like we were making it prettier and getting things done to get it cozy and livable. Well, now it looks like a tornado went through it and ripped of the headliner, carpet and one of the walls. All attempts to make it pretty have been dealt a major blow. The sagging headliner could not have been reattached, unlike we thought, the old glue has given up and without removing it completely nothing else is going to stick to the ceiling. We have been trying to figure out a way to line the ceiling without having to replace the ceiling material, which would be a major task for people who have stored all their tools in the other side of the state. So we finally came to a quite unconventional decision and ordered the materials. 

The unfortunate fact is that we thought we could just pick up the materials from the hardware store, but now we are facing up to 2 week delivery time, since they had to be ordered. So we are not likely going to be able to leave this coming week even though we planned so originally. But that will leave us maybe couple more weeks time to fix our mess and get our hands sore from other projects we weren't really prepared to do. :D We did plan it all, we just weren't really prepared for all the stickiness and the fact that everything has really been built to last. The carpet was nailed, stabled and glued by someone who really didn't want them to come off. Oh, but we did manage to pull a wall off... accidentally :D

Most of the "fun" is still ahead of us...

Asuntoauto remppa senkuin jatkuu, vaikka jokin aika sitten näytti että olemme onnistuneet tuomaan siihen hieman jotain nättiä ja toivottavasti luomaan kotoisan ja asuttavan tilan. No, eipä  näytä enää, lähinnä näyttäisi kuin tornado olisi kulkenut sen läpi repien sisäkaton, kokolattiamaton ja yhden seinän mennessään. Roikkuvaa sisäkattoa ei voinutkaan uudelleen kiinnittää, toisin kuin luulimme. Vanha liima on kuivunut ja ainoa keino saada siihen enää mitään tarttumaan on joko poistaa liima tai uusia kattomateriaali, kumpikaan vaihtoehdoista ei ole mieluinen, sillä kaikki työkalumme on varastossa toisella puolella osavaltiota, todella isoa osavaltiota. Mutta viimein tulimme hieman erikoiseen ratkaisuun ja tilasimme tarpeelliset materiallit. 

Valitettavasti joudumme odottamaan ehkä jopa pari viikkoa toimitusta, koska emme voineet hakea tarvikkeita suoraan rautakaupasta. Tämä luultavasti viivyttää matkaan lähtöämme, jonka olimme suunnitelleet tulevalle viikolle. Mutta nyt meillä onkin pari viikkoa aikaa korjata jälkemme ja tehdä muita projekteja joihin emme olleet varautuneet. :D Kyllä me ihan suunnittelimme tämän rempan, mutta emme ehkä olleet varautuneet siihen miten hankalaa olisi purkaa sellaista mikä on rakennettu kestämään. Kokolattiamatto oli nidottu, naulattu ja liimattu jonkun toimesta, joka ei todellakaan halunnut sen lähtevän irti. Mutta revimme yhden seinän irti... vahingossa :D

still to remove hundreds of stables and nails... and a wall next to
washer and dryer... ooops!
