More Animal Madness ~ Lisää Höpöilyä Koirien Kustannuksella

I totally forgot to post an update to my doggy snood. I made couple hats for my pups, one looking like a zebra and the other was supposed to be a some sort of cheetah type kitty, but forgot to show you the newer ones.  :) You can see the original post here. The zoo has grown a bit, the next in line was a tiger and frog and I have to say I had ton of fun making these. I also have a piglet and lamb one, but the ears need a bit fixing, so I will post about those later once my criteria has been met ;)

Someone is not amused!

Totaalisesti pääsi unohtumaan päivitys minun koirapipoihini. Tein pari hassua pipoa koirilleni, yhden seepran tyylisen ja toisen gepardin oloisen misun, mutta unohdin näyttää minun muita versioitani. :) Voit nähdä alkuperäisen bloggaukseni täältä. Eläintarhamme on kasvanut hieman, seuraavina vuorossa ovat tiikeri ja sammakko ja täytyy myöntää että minulla on ollut aikalailla hauskaa näitä neuloessani. Myös possu ja lammas ovat nähneet päivänvalon, mutta heidän korvansa kaipaavat hieman kohennusta ja bloggailenkin niistä sitten korjaukset tehtyäni. ;)

It's a zoo out here ~ Eläimellistä Menoa

My two little Italian Greyhounds Pixie and Louie hate the winter. The hair on these dogs can be very short and very thin, in lots of places the skin shows through so much that you check constantly if there is any hair at all. Needless to say that this is not typical for most dogs and that they shiver and feel cold even indoors if they are not dressed up or have some heated beds or blankies around. On my visit to Finland I bought some jungle and safari themed Novita yarn with the intensions to knit the greyhounds jumpsuits with some cables and ribbing for extra insulation. How ever as I started my project with the long snood and knit 2, purl 2 ribbing I noticed that the yarn does not look good in ribbing and the cables would totally probably disappear into the pattern and I did not want to add them only for warmth but also for the design, so I decided that it is best to use the yarn for something with stockinette stitch. Hey, the dogs were still missing snoods, so that is where I turned my attention to. :)

I will write a pattern for the little Zoo snoods to the Ravelry and publish it here once it is ready. Here is what I whipped up of the yarn and now we have park rangers running around looking for a zebra and leopard seen at the neighborhood. ;)

Pixie ja Louie, pienet italian vinttikoirani inhoavat talvea. Heidän turkkinsa on niin lyhyt ja ohut, että monin paikoin iho paistaa läpi siinä määrin, että välillä tulee tarkastettua josko paikoin on karvoja ollenkaan. Turha tuskin sanoa, että näin ei ole useimpien koirien laita ja että he värisevät viluissaan jopa sisätiloissa ilman asusteita tai jonkinlaisia lämmitettäviä alustoja ja peittoja. Suomen matkallani ostin Novitan Viidakkolankaa tarkoituksena neuloa koirille puvut palmikoilla ja joustinneuleella lisälämpöä tuottamaan. Aloitettuani projektin hupusta neuloin pitkän pätkän joustinneuletta ja totesin että lanka olisi oikeuksissaan luultavimmin sileässä neuleessa, sillä kuviointi häviää joustinneuleessa ja palmikot puolestaan kuvioinnissa, enkä halunnut näitä ohjeeseen ihan vain lämpöarvon vuoksi, vaan halusin jotain mikä näyttää tarkoitukselliselta ja suunnitellulta. Päätin siis käyttää langat projektissa, jossa olisi sileää neuletta. Hei, koirilla ei vieläkään ollut huppuja, joten siinä oli uusi suunta neuloosille. :)

Kirjoitan ohjeen Zoo hupuista Ravelryyn ja julkistan täällä kunhan se valmistuu. Tässä nyt mitä langasta sattui tulemaan, ja nyt pakoilemaan eläinkontrolli immeisiä, jotka etsivät asutusalueella nähtyjä seepraa ja leopardia ;)
